Aarau, Switzerland and Dusseldorf, Germany– April 16, 2018 – Digital asset management software maker Picturepark® and its premier partner DAM United announced today the preview availability of the “GDPR Consent Manager”. The tool helps Picturepark customers manage the process for receiving consent for use of personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union (EU) becoming effective by May 25, 2018.

“DAM customers are at high exposure because they often manage personal data categorized as sensitive such as an image of a person which easily unveils the persons race or ethnic origin, and more,” said Stefan Seidl, Picturepark Product Manager. “If companies store, distribute and use images, videos or other content for which they have not received explicit consent for a particular use then this can result in complaints, lawsuits, and high fines.”

Using the “GDPR Consent Manager”, content editors and managers can easily request consent for use of personal data from within Picturepark. On request, a link is sent via email, leading recipients to a secure web page where he can review his personal data, its intended usage and terms, and provide consent with a few clicks. If wished at a later point in time, consent can be withdrawn by the individual by simply visiting the link again.

“We know how complex compliance with data privacy laws or other industry regulations can be so we decided to develop a solution” said Andreas Fink, CTO of DAM United. “We built the GDPR Consent Manager in a way that is generic and useful for any company which manages personal data but the tool can be greatly customized for delivering according very specific use cases of customers across industries and beyond GDPR.”
